NAME: Leo Tsukinaga
AGE: 17
CANON: Ensemble Stars!
CANON HISTORY: The school itself, summaries of the main story in which he does not appear, and his own appearances!
CANON PERSONALITY:
The core traits of Leo Tsukinaga are simple ones, and ones that'd earn him a spot in Gryffindor in the Harry Potter universe; he's brave and kind, he fights for others and doesn't see a single person as a sacrifice, even those he dislikes. Every person has something special about them and it's up to them to make that shine. He gets pissed when people slack on that or assume that just because you're talented you don't need to do anything, because if you love something then why wouldn't you go full force on it? If you're doing something, why half ass it? It's the biggest problem he had with a lot of the students in Yumenosaki Academy before Eichi Tenshouin forced a change, something the two bonded over and felt the same about, it's just... their methods differed greatly. Where Eichi saw things like sacrifice as "necessary" Leo had far too kind a heart to let that be, giving everyone second and third chances and refusing to see them in a poor light, thinking that they just needed a little push.
That fell apart by the end of their second year.
He still very much believes in hard work and making things shine, but he's not so disillusioned about the intentions of others and goes so far as to test the Knights he'd left, the Knights he perceived as "changed", because he was terrified of how they'd become... Holding such a "blood stained" past on their shoulders, yet still going forward as shining, brilliant people, with a sort of brother atmosphere -- there wasn't a place for him anymore, and that insecurity still racked him for some time even after Tsukasa Suou made it more than clear that he'd be staying with them to take responsibility for the time wasted away. It cleared up more by Christmas and the following months, owning up more to the mistakes of his past and actually being able to reflect on them without spiraling any is a hefty change from the guy who shut himself in for months and was so terrified of going to school he'd freeze and tremble when he tried.
But he did end up returning to school in the end, even if it was with a memory spotty from the trauma he'd undergone and because the player character had been asked, so his brave heart remains strong. His want of a peaceful world where everyone greets each other warmly and sings because they like to, works hard toward that goal, is attainable. More than ever, Leo Tsukinaga has the right to happiness and he just has trouble accepting he deserves that.
More on Leo's spotty memory: He represses a lot of his more painful memories from second year because of how hurt he got by everyone's manipulation of his earnest heart, and as a result he tends to "forget" things that aren't important to him. It's shown through the year that he very much does remember things though, and he gets better about not using his "imagination" to create a fantasy out of the context people bring him initially. He does genuinely get too into composing though, sort of like losing yourself in a book or drawing or anything like that, just because he loves it so much.
Speaking of love, Leo throws it around frivolously. The word, the sentiment, everything -- just because he can, because he does love so much and that hasn't changed a bit, much to the chagrin of some others. He firm believes that clear communication is important, that seeing all of someone's sides and stepping onto their battlefield with them is necessary as a friend, and strives to get that from the people he stands with; he also gives it himself, even if it's painful, as shown in Robin Hood with Tsukasa. It's a sort of cleaned up version compared to the actual events that happened, but the fact is that he admitted to things and didn't hide it once it was brought to light.
On the dual side of Leo, his poorer traits are sort of a fucking nightmare? His idealism got him hurt. His loyalty to one person (Izumi Sena) also ended up getting him hurt. He would bite his own hand to try and compose once he began to run out, apologizing for being late on it, and that's not the first time he tried to turn an injury into something inspirational; when his arm was broken by landing on it wrong, he wrote with the blood that came out in an effort to create something out of a new experience he didn't deserve. Thankfully that's toned down now, but now he just chases new experiences in general for that snatch of inspiration and throws a fit when he loses it. He gets lost easily. He doesn't seem to take things seriously when he should. He has no trouble with calling people out on the shit they've done, even at inappropriate times. A stubborn person, for better or worse, who doesn't forget the important things -- including any wrongs done to him and his people.
In his third year, it's almost like an entirely different person; on top of the "spurts" of inspiration dragging him places, the forgetfulness of his location and even his classmates and own name, Leo's more wild and carefree, high and mighty while still holding the past to his heart. He knows he's done wrong. He wants to atone. He's honorable in that way, a man of his word and wanting to find his place to belong to the Knights he loved so much... scared he didn't have one after he'd so cowardly abandoned them. But he does, he sees that, and he works hard for them; he doesn't throw himself into anymore, he doesn't sacrifice himself or place his worth solely on the things he composes, but he still works hard and wants to see them shine.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Idol skills! Singing, dancing, things like that -- it's especially noted that he's good at improvised dancing, and for his own personal skill... he's actually a genius at composition. Pretty much everything he creates is a hit. Also very good with a bow? He doesn't need to focus to get bullseyes. Can imitate bird calls perfectly.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Leo Suzakura, though he goes by Tsukinaga of his own choice.
AU AGE: 20

PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Brown hair and blue eyes, to match with Tsukasa, along with three piercings in his right ear, two in his left, and a tongue piercing. There's a completely colored phoenix on his left shoulder blade too. No mullet; his hair's cut closer to his ear.
AU HISTORY: Permission granted by all mentioned!
Even before he was born, Leo's life had been planned out for him to keep up the Suzakura name; he's the first son, after all, it's important that he do so. They're not old money or anything special like that, but they're well-off enough that his parents want him to follow in their footsteps and become someone important too. A doctor. Lawyer. CEO. Something like that, certainly nothing fun and exciting.
He could stand it for most of his life in that child way, wanting to please parents while still doing what he wanted, but it wore on him; eventually, he started to go against them around 15ish and was threatened with boarding school if he didn't shape up and get his shit together. Hanging out with "good" company. Wearing stuffy clothes and, most important of all, no frivolous activities like music, art, and whatever the hell else Leo was interested in.
Needless to say, he flipped.
Around sixteen, he ran off after getting into a huge fight with his folks and ended up going to Japan to stay with some family there, dropping out of high school to start a band with the friend he made there and as a result dropping out of the Suzakura family entirely once he realized they wanted to send him back to America. He got piercings. Changed his image completely, his genre becoming more punk to go with his need for rebellion, and even took a different last name: Tsukinaga. Picked fights, became well-known underground for his bad attitude and way with any instrument he tried. By eighteen he'd become successful in his own right, playing a variety of things incredibly well and having small scraps with the law. His crimes aren't high profile though, just things like tagging and shoplifting, street fights where needed, underaged drinking, so he's never been more than a troublemaker in that regard.
That said... As cushy as Leo's life is right now, doing what he wants when he wants, he does actually want to get an education; when he came back to Recolle due to homesickness, he ended up getting a GED for high school in his spare time and keeps hanging around the university campus, playing music on his guitar for the students there for tips. Wants to join them, but thinks he parents would approve of that in a way that churns his stomach so he's been putting it off, even if it's become obvious to his friends that he'd like to get somewhere else in life.
Other notes:
○ While he has a mountainous relationship with his parents, the one he has with his younger brother Tsukasa is good if wistful; with him out of the picture, they're rather strict on him to make sure he doesn't go the same way, and he'd love to drag him out from it but he can't. He loves his little bro very much and wishes he could help (though they're a Little bit more lenient on their second child, not that he knows this).
○ Band was named 5cm/s; Leo was the vocalist and played whatever they need, but liked bass best. It's disbanded with his departure to Recolle. Their genre was pop punk and sung mostly in English as per the status quo, and had lots of songs about love.
○ Returned to the city at 18, has been in hiding from his family for two years.
○ Works at a tattoo parlor and got a phoenix on his shoulder from it. Did Kuro's tattoo for him.
○ Does covers of various popular songs on Youtube now, but he isn't particularly popular. Goes by Sukisan on it.
○ Has a collection of stray cats he feeds.
○ Used to date seriously in Japan, but never quite settled there; tried again in Recolle and more or less ended up the same way, but with worse results in the last one.
○ Sort of flings himself around at anyone he finds physically/reactionally attractive now and flirts like hell. Sex is not below him.
○ Kuro Kiryuu is an old friend of his; the older boy was someone he met when he started going out more against his parent's wishes and admired greatly, furthering his delinquent streak with the violent bad boy. They got back into contact with each other when Leo returned to Recolle and have remained close since, with Leo staying with him fairly often and doting on Kuro's younger sister as well.
○ Kiyomitsu Kashuu is someone he met after returning to Recolle, bonding with the pretty boy over fake IDs and the like. They're party buddies!
○ Silver Bells is also someone he met post-return; the young man reminded him of himself in some ways, especially in regards to family feelings, so he hung out with the kid the same way Kuro had him.
○ Flat Escardos is another person he met after coming back! Flat's extremely nice and thinks Leo is cool, which is fine with Leo because this means he gets a roof over his head every now and then. Leo likes him too.
○ Nazuna Nito adds to the list. He's known Leo for a little bit now, since Leo hangs around campus and became a dorm stray as a result, and Leo enjoys Nazuna's company greatly; Nazuna's one of his favorite people to stay with. This also means he and May Borkowski are familiar with each other, much to Nazuna's pleasure and worry, because Leo encourages bad behaviors that are subjectively fun, like parkour and whatnot.
○ Jamie Doh is, again, post-return, and a FWB. Leo came around until the fall semester, where Minato Arisato became Jamie's roommate, but still visits from time to time.
○ Ritsu Sakuma is also someone he stays with every now and then!!
○ He has someone that works at Freshens who gives him close to due-by dated foods, so it's like the one place he doesn't shoplift.
○ John Steinbeck!!! Is also a petty delinquent friend he flirts with.
○ Can breakdance.
AU PERSONALITY: There isn't a lot changed about his personality save for the people he actually shows it to: strangers get a flirty, nonchalant and sometimes prickly Leo depending on their attitudes, while friends get a more honest Leo who's loving and teasing. It's easy for him to fall in love with his friends. He just won't let himself get to that point, even if all signs point to "go", because relationships are terrifying and he doesn't want to get hurt again; on a counterpoint he hates to be alone, which is why he stays with people and sleeps around instead of just getting his own place like he very much can on a tattoo artists' salary.
So he's hesitant with things. The closer he is to you the less likely he is to say he loves you, unless you're his brother. If he ever starts to fall for you he starts to grow more distant and weird, not as touchy and teasing. Compared to his canon self, this Leo's definitely "look before you leap" when it comes to interpersonal things, even if he's a complete daredevil for danger. Very fighty. Very "if I get a scar, good". A troublemaker to the bone, a good boy at heart.
